Naturopathic diagnosis is focused on identifying the underlying causes of disease, rather than simply treating the symptoms of illness. Each patient is viewed as a collection of their physical, mental, and emotional parts rather than a set of symptoms and diagnosis. As a licensed naturopathic doctor Dr Mailloux can order lab tests and imaging to aid in diagnosis and treatment. Your initial visit with Dr Mailloux at Alaska Therapeutic Massage will include a thorough history and may include a physical exam and lab work. Dr Mailloux believes strongly in integrative medicine and is happy to work with your medical doctor.

"I developed an interest in naturopathic medicine while working at ACNM as a receptionist. I grew up to love the medicine because it works! I enjoy being able to spend time with each patient and treat them as a whole person rather than as set of symptoms and diagnoses."

As a family practitioner, I welcome women and men of all ages into my practice. I especially enjoy working with hormonal complaints, skin wellness, preventative medicine including Well Woman exams, neurological complaints including anxiety, depression, addiction, and ADHD.

Massage Therapy

Rachelle Ebbesson, LMT, Alaska Therapeutic Massage, 418 Wedgewood Drive, (907) 374-0613
Massage has been proven to have many physical and psychological benefits.
First of all, it reduces stress, pain and muscle tension. It increases blood flow, which in turn facilitates improved concentration, better sleep, and healing from injuries.  Many people also find that massage gives them relief from a wide range of difficulties including headaches, anxiety, fibromyalgia, stiff joints, lack of energy, and dependency on medications, scarring, and depression.  As the body relaxes, many physiological processes have the opportunity to function more optimally, especially digestion, breathing, and circulation.  During a massage, we experience safe and respectful touch. We often feel cared for, comforted and empowered. Because our muscles tend to hold on to stress, massage can give us a chance to relax and let the pain go.
Thai Yoga Massage is a type of massage that has been practiced in Thailand for over 2000 years.  The client remains fully clothed in comfortable, loose-fitting attire.  The massage is performed on a mat on the floor, and is a combination of compression and stretching.  The massage therapist both presses muscles and acupressure points, and guides the client through gentle, passive stretches, always within the client’s comfort zone. The therapist may use their hands, feet, elbows, knees and legs to facilitate the movements, and rarely uses oil.  The benefits of Thai Yoga Massage include deep relaxation, quieting the mind, improved body-mind connection, improved circulation, increased flexibility, greater range of motion, and relief from pain and muscle tension.
